課堂經歷
*Please Note: As a professional teacher, I have years of experience working with students with special needs, i.e. Autism, ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Stuttering, etc. All students are welcome in my classes!* *Private group sessions are available upon request, for example, homeschool co-ops, etc.* If you have already taken my one day live class, I will send you a $10 discount for this class! Just message me and let me know. I've heard the feedback from parents, and I've made this class even better! This is my one-day internet safety class that I have expanded to include more information, examples, stories, games, AND it is much more interactive! I use Nearpod and Kahoot to get students more involved in the learning, and I have expanded the time needed to fit in all of this new information and to make room for all the great questions I get from kids and their parents! *Please note that this class has a 4 week Flex version that covers the basics of internet safety, as well as the advanced content in this class. Students watch pre-recorded videos, and can watch them and work at their own pace. Check it out here if you are interested: https://bit.ly/3qlUGJa * This is the first and only Internet Safety Flex class on Outschool! :) This interactive class focuses on the relationship-building strategies and techniques online predators use to gain the trust of kids and to trick them. I use the Socratic method, which employs the art of questioning in order to really engage learners, and to make sure the information they learn is impactful, and is actually retained. Parents love this internet safety class for preteens because it helps them to open up and share things with them that they never would have before. Kids love this internet safety class for preteens because they actually learn new information they've never heard before. This goes WAY BEYOND the same-old same-old they hear at school and really answers the question, "Why?" Kids think they're too smart to be fooled online, and they don't understand that intelligence has nothing to do with being groomed. It's all about the emotional connections that predators work so hard to build. This is a very unique class because I go beyond the normal internet safety advice. We talk about the basics of not sharing information online, being mindful of what and where we post, and the reality that everything we post online lives forever. We go in-depth to learn about how predators earn the trust of the kids they are grooming through taking advantage of emotional vulnerabilities and emotional needs. Kids learn the basic psychological truths of relationship building, and they are better able to understand themselves after taking this class. Kids will learn the importance of keeping their personal lives private, and they will learn the reality that there are people who lie so they can hurt children. The internet is a really fun place where kids and adults can learn a lot, and it is my goal to make sure it stays that way for our kids! Day 1: Activities with Nearpod and Kahoot Online safety stats Who is a target? You are a puzzle Why grooming is emotional Day 2: Review game with Kahoot Why a child's IQ is meaningless when it comes to being groomed How predators use all information they get against kids Specific emotional vulnerabilities kids and teens face, for example, negative attitudes against parents and friends Illustrated stories of kids and their real-life encounters with online predators Day 3: Review game with Kahoot How predators use non-important information to build trust and locate kids in real life The Grooming Process Why and how predators lie about their age Predators replace a child's parents with themselves emotionally Day 4: Story time Review game with Kahoot How and why predators lie about their age to trick kids Everyone on the internet is lying Class Wrap up and Final Thoughts
