Shared Reading is an interactive reading experience that occurs when students join in or share the reading of a book or other text while guided and supported by a teacher. Shared Reading supports a balanced literacy instructional approach and allows students to enjoy materials that they may not be able to read on their own. Through modelling and class discussion, students will become better readers.
In this class students will:
- Learn the skills of proficient readers,...Students will develop reading skills, including phonics, vocabulary, and reading strategies. Students will improve their reading comprehension.
I am a certified elementary school teacher for grades K-6. I taught first grade for 6 years. I have been an elementary school librarian in a preschool-grade 2 school for 4 years. I have taught many children how to read and have used these shared reading strategies in my lessons for 8 years.
