You are Loved; A Book About Families
One-Time, Live class
 
During our live, one-time class, we will read the wonderful book "You Are Loved; A Book About Families" written by Margaret O'Hair and inspired by Sofia Sanchez. 
In the story, we first learn about Sofia Sanchez who has Down syndrome. Sofia is like any other kid! This story was inspired by her desire to show others what families can look like and what it means to be family. 

As we read, we will look at the wonderful illustrations by Sofia Cardoso. The illustrations and words are inspiring and help us know the many people that are considered family! It isn't just immediate family - it can be so many more people! 

We learn about all of the people that we consider family. 

Following our story, we will talk about what kind of people we consider family and how being blood related is not what makes people family. It is love and support that make people family. 

We will then dance to two songs about what makes a family:
1. Sesame Street: Family Song
2. The Families Song: Scratch Garden

We will spend the last bit of class building our own "Family" Tree which will include anyone the learners considered loved and supported by.
