In this seven week course, we will read through and discuss the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy. Students will discuss themes such as Dystopian society, reality TV, symbolism, imagery and irony. There will also be a discussion of major and minor characters and their evolution or lack thereof. There are themes of violence involving children. There are some themes of romance as well. This book/class is suited for students who are mature enough to handle these themes. The movie also shows violent themes/actions and romantic kisses.
