課堂經歷
This 4-day writing club is designed to enhance the student's creative skills as an artist, writer, and speaker. The writing club is created to boost public speaking skills by incorporating them into the daily writing activities and build the student's confidence when reading to the class. Class participants will be encouraged to share their written creative works through oral expression and display through artistic creation regardless of skills, grade, or age. This club is best for students who enjoy having fun as they learn through listening to songs and looking at beautiful artwork and paintings to create an image of his/her own to write about. This class is topped with unique food models and catchy phrases to help guide students through their writing topics. Students are free to speak and express themselves while in class and through their own drawings and guided paintings. As an added topping on the cake, all writing assignments meet the common core curriculum standards required by many states. Daily Activities will include: Grammar Review - A brief review will be provided as students are required to know how to write sentences using proper capitalization and punctuation to complete their writings. Guided Writing - Students will learn the writing process for various types of writings. Creative Notebook - Students will create their own notebook and decorate as desired. Public Speaking - Students will practice reading their writings and present to the class. Artistic Design - Students will receive guided step-by-step basic drawings. Students will practice proper sentence structures, Parts of Speech, capitalization and punctuation rules, Paragraph Writing, Descriptive Writing, Opinion Writing, and tips for creating ideas. Student Participation and Interaction Students will act as both the speaker/reader and the listening audience. Class participants will be encouraged to share their written creative works by written and oral expression and display through artistic creation. Students will paint the big picture in their minds and place it on paper through the written description, expression, and persuasion. Students will improve their handwriting skills while drafting in their notebooks.

Students will improve their overall language arts skills. This will be accomplished through “PPP”, the practice of grammar review, practice of speaking, and the practice of writing.

Students will be required to use scissors. Parents are asked to purchase appropriate child-safe scissors and monitor as needed.

As the campus dean and curriculum developer of a private college, curriculum writer of academic courses for K-12, songwriter, artist and author, I am highly qualified to direct students with writing, communication and presentation skills. As the owner and primary curriculum writer of an integrated arts academy of 10 years, I have the expertise to create a curriculum that is creative while incorporating the core subject of English as designed for SMAcademy of Integrated Arts. I have also taught English and Language Arts both in a private school setting and one-on-one lessons. I also have obtained several college degrees to include a Phd in Counseling, a dual masters degree and a bachelors degree.
As one who holds a doctorate in counseling, I understand how to approach students based on their own personalities and cater my lessons to meet each individual's needs. I provide encouragement to struggling learners, patience as required and genuine supportive care to push the student to his or her highest potential in a fun, non-stressful way.
