課堂經歷

For this course we will talk about what the difference is between paraphrasing and plagiarism and why plagiarism is such a serious offense. We will then go over my four tips for paraphrasing: reading the text at least twice through, highlighting important ideas and concepts, write your own version using the highlighted cues, and comparing your version to the original to make sure they aren't too similar. I will also teach how to cite a source in case a teacher has asked for it.
We will go over at least three texts with me leading the first, the students assisting with another and finally having them do one all on their own. We will have a group discussion about each of the three and provide feedback about what was done well and how it could be improved.
For this class the child should have the ability to read at a 6th grade level or higher and be able to compose a short paragraph.
學習目標

I've been teaching writing for over ten years to a variety of ages, but have spent the last two years working in a high school where the students constantly need help breaking down articles and reading assignments for essays and comprehension questions. As an English major at Portland State it was a skill that was essential and as I went on to tutor fellow college students I broke the paraphrasing step into four easy steps that I could use and teach.
