What will be taught:
Students learn how to write a compare and contrast essay that tells how two things are alike or different. 
Students will learn when you compare, you explain how the subjects are similar. When you contrast, you explain their differences. 
Students will learn to write about two subjects that have something in common. 
Students will learn how to write an introduction to grab the readers attention. 
Students will learn how to write corresponding details for each subject. 
Students will learn how to use a method to help the student write organized from beginning to end.
Students will learn how to use a topic sentence to state their main idea. 
Students will learn using transitional words and phrases to compare and contrast.
Students will learn how to write an ending that sums up their main ideas. 
How will the lesson be taught:
Students will participate in writing comparing and contrasting two different things. 
Students will start by thinking of their topic, learn how to list details about each subject, such as look, sound, feel, taste, or smell. 
Students learn how a Venn diagram can help the student compare their two subjects. 
Students will learn how to organize the information in their essay writing about similarities and differences.
