This 4-week class is a quick way to check in on a student's writing skills. Each week we focus on a new element of writing (parts of speech, sentence structure, RACE response) and end the course with an assessment. Before Class *Students should come prepared with homework completed During Class *The teacher will give a short lesson on the topic of the day and students will record information using a guided note sheet *Students will complete practice activities on the topic of the day...

Week 1Lesson 1Parts of SpeechReview parts of speech by viewing lesson, completing guided notes, taking a Blooket quiz, and completing practice activities.Week 2Lesson 2Sentence StructureReview sentence structure by viewing lesson, completing guided notes, taking a Blooket quiz, and completing practice activities.Week 3Lesson 3RACE ResponseReview RACE Response by viewing video lesson, completing guided notes, taking a Blooket quiz, and completing practice activities.Week 4Lesson 4Check DayFinal Parts of Speech test and RACE response
- Students will improve their knowledge of parts of speech by completing guided notes, playing practice games and completing online tests
- Students will recognize different types of sentence structures by completing guided notes and completing practice activities
- Students will review elements of a literature-based response using text evidence by completing guided notes, and writing responses
The instructor is a certified Teacher of English (K-12) and Reading Specialist (P-12) with over 10 years of teaching experience.

Blooket and other online games will be used. An account is not needed. Writing responses will require Google Classroom access and Google docs. A Google account is not required. **Students may also handwrite responses :)
