The assignments are created to help learners create a well-structured, engaging, and meaningful script short film script. This course is designed so that much of the work is done in class, but students should expect no more than two hours of work each week. This lesson introduces students to the essential building blocks of screenwriting by exploring loglines and screenplay formatting. Students will analyze the components of a strong logline, practice

Three Act Structure
In this lesson, students will dive into the three-act structure, a
foundational framework for storytelling in screenwriting. Through
examples, discussions, and exercises, students will learn how to break a story into its beginning, middle, and end while identifying key elements such as inciting incidents, turning points, and climaxes. Course is designed to support students with unique learning needs, including ADHD, Dyslexia, and ASD, by offering step-by-step instruction and a flexible, engaging environment.

We will be using the screenwriting program, Celtx, and students may need help creating an account.
We will be watching short film clips, all rated PG. These clips will be screened via screen share, so students won’t need access to YouTube.

No prior experience or prerequisites are required. Learners of all skill levels are welcome to join.
