It is good if students have taken my first course Word Work Session 1, but isn't required. Students will need paper and pencil or a whiteboard to interact with the new rules taught. I will send a new list for students to sort and work with throughout the week. It is a class to help students generalize spelling rules and sounds to help when spelling any words with the sounds covered. We will talk about the spelling rules and review general phonic sounds needed to master the new rules....
Students will learn to spell by patterns and learn exceptions. It is not about memorizing words for a spelling test on Friday. It is about learning rules and sounds to carry over to writing.
Students will be given a list to cut and sort before class each week.
