Welcome to Wonderful World of Writing for Beginners! This online beginning writing class is designed for young learners who are just starting their journey as writers. The class introduces the fundamentals of writing through engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that nurture creativity, build confidence, and strengthen foundational skills.

Students will explore different modes of writing, including narrative, informational, and opinion writing, to gain exposure to diverse forms of self-expression. They will learn how to express their ideas through drawing and labeling, using pictures and words to tell stories, share information, and explain their thoughts. Gradually, they will progress to writing complete sentences, focusing on proper structure, spacing, and punctuation.

Through interactive lessons, students will:

Draw and label pictures to tell a simple story and practice sequencing events.
ICreate labeled diagrams and illustrations to share facts about a topic they know or have learned about.
Draw and label to express their preferences or opinions and support them with simple reasons.
Learn how to write basic sentences with a capital letter, spacing between words, and punctuation (e.g., periods, question marks).
The class emphasizes hands-on, engaging activities, such as creating picture-based stories, interactive writing games, and group discussions. Learners will also build early grammar and mechanics skills, such as recognizing nouns, verbs, and basic sight words, to support their sentence writing.

Small group instruction ensures individualized attention, allowing each child to progress at their own pace. By the end of the class, learners will have the confidence to express themselves through drawings, words, and sentences, setting the stage for future writing success!

By the end of this class, learners will understand the basic structure of a sentence and how to create one as well as use drawing and labeling as tools to organize and express their ideas. Learners will also be introduced to different modes of writing (narrative, informational, and opinion) in a fun and accessible way while gaining foundational writing skills and confidence that prepare them for more advanced writing tasks in the future.
