Students will understand the basics of Amendments 1, 4, and 5. The United States Constitution has many Amendments that protect the rights of individuals, These three cover our basic rights to speech, religion, to not be searched, and the right to not talk to the police. Students will be expected to have read the Amendments ahead of time and to have a copy of the Amendments to refer to during class. Students will be questioned about what they think the words mean. We will discuss what the courts have said they mean. There will be opportunities for discussion, and students will be expected to participate. Students will not need prior constitutional knowledge.
學習目標
Students will improve their understanding of why amendments are added to the constitution, and some of the rights that people in the United States have. These are not the only three Amendments that protect the rights of individuals. Students will create mnemonic devices to help remember which amendment does what.
