Get ready for summer reading by choosing titles worthy of your time and intellect!

Students will learn the definition, purpose, and qualities of great literature. We will discuss genre, the elements of story structure and writing style. We will compare our favorite works of fiction and build a reading list for the summer.

其他詳情

父母的引導和規範
Any work from the canon of classical children's literature may be discussed and promoted in this class. That includes works that are considered controversial by some groups of people in recent times such as Hucklberry Finn, Little House, Harry Potter, A Wrinkle in Time or Fahrenheit 451. General reasons for controversy will be discussed and included in our analysis of what makes a good book good.
供應清單
No materials are needed for this course but students are encouraged to bring their favorite book to share with their classmates. A Powerpoint presentation and handouts will be provided.

As a published author of fiction and nonfiction for both children and adults, an artist and a performer, I believe in the cultural power and intellectual benefits of great literature, art and music. My homeschooling methodology is humanities based with an emphasis on the written word. Our civilization depends on a citizenry fluent in the great written works of history through which we learn what it means to be human, and how to succeed as a people and a species.
