1. Students will learn about inventions that failed but were weirdly wonderful. 
2. Students curiosity will be stimulated to learn more about failed inventions.
3. Students will discuss why select inventions failed. 
4. Students will do research to discover and report back to the group about other weird inventions. 
5. Students will discuss the characteristics and qualities of an inventor.  

I grew up with a dad who was constantly inventing and making things out of scrap metal, wood, plastics and just about anything! I recently found a notebook with one of his drawings for a new invention, made just days before his death. My dad never held a patent, but our family benefited greatly from his ability to think creatively and use his knowledge to make life easier.  I love to teach and my passion is science and thinking creatively.  Inspiring kids to think outside of the box is one step towards creating the inventors of tomorrow.

Students will be assigned a short research project. They will determine how to present their research. Some may write up their report, others may choose to draw or make models of the inventions. Students will be encouraged to present their project in a learning style that is comfortable and effective for them.
