In this Animals & Mythical Creatures Watercolor Painting class, students will learn to use color theory to create harmonious color palettes. Each week, students will learn how to identify different color palettes to paint their art, (e.g., warm colors, cool colors, primary colors, analogous colors, key colors, monochromatic colors, complementary colors). Please note that students can enroll in this class at any time. Each scheduled meeting will be spent drawing/painting ONE picture, learning how to use different color schemes every week. Students do not need to be enrolled in previous weeks of this class to be successful. For every class, I will demonstrate each step for students and have students complete that step along with me. My classroom is a calm, fun, and creative environment where discussion between teacher and students is encouraged. 供應清單
***IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ*** I will use Canson's cold press watercolor paper, 140 lb/300 g, but students can use what paper they have. Cold press paper has more texture, whereas hot press paper is more smooth. Students are welcome to use either type. If you are unable to purchase watercolor paper, students can use thick sketch or mix media paper. As far as watercolor paint, there are a lot of different brands to choose from. Unless you want to, you do not need to purchase anything expensive. If you have a cheap set lying around the house, students are welcome to use them! I will use a mixture of watercolor brands, some being cheaper than others. If you want to invest in a higher quality watercolor paint, Windsor & Newton is a good option. There are also a variety of paint brushes students can use. Students DO NOT need the exact brushes I will use. If possible, I recommend students having a smaller fan brush, detail brush or very small round brush, and/or shader brush. I use the shader brushes mostly in sizes 10, 8, and 6. There are brush sets with a variety of brushes you can purchase at a reasonable price. Again, please do not feel like you have to purchase a lot of brushes for this class. Even if your student has a single brush, we will make it work. Students may use masking tape or washi tape for the boarders of their paintings. This makes for crisp edges, as well as helping the paper to not warp as bad. I will be using washi tape I found on Amazon. Tape that isn't super sticky is best so there is less chance of it tearing the paper. Also, if students do not have alcohol markers, that is fine! They are welcome to use any colored pencils they have or another art medium of their choosing. In class, I will use the Prismacolor Colored Pencils and the Ohuhu alcohol markers. If you have any questions, or need help, don't hesitate to reach out! :) Snowy Dog: Watercolor Paint -Watercolor paper -Everyday pencil and eraser -Watercolor paint: blue, brown, yellow, pink -Paint brushes -Paint palette to mix paint on -Paper towels -Jar of water (to rinse brushes) OPTIONAL: color wheel, white acyrlic paint OR white gouache paint OR a white gel pen, colored pencils, washi tape Winged Lion: Watercolor Paint -Watercolor paper -Everyday pencil and eraser -Watercolor paint: blue, yellow, orange, pink, purple -Paint brushes -Paint palette to mix paint on -Paper towels -Jar of water (to rinse brushes) OPTIONAL: color wheel, white acyrlic paint OR white gouache paint OR a white gel pen, colored pencils, washi tape Panda Bear & Bamboo: Watercolor Paint -Watercolor paper -Everyday pencil and eraser -Watercolor paint: blue, green, black, brown -Paint brushes -Paint palette to mix paint on -Paper towels -Jar of water (to rinse brushes) OPTIONAL: color wheel, white acyrlic paint OR white gouache paint OR a white gel pen, colored pencils, washi tape Under the Sea Jellyfish: Watercolor Paint -Watercolor paper -Everyday pencil and eraser -Watercolor paint: blue, purple, violet -Paint palette to mix paint on -Paper towels -Jar of water (to rinse brushes) OPTIONAL: color wheel, white acyrlic paint OR white gouache paint OR a white gel pen, colored pencils, washi tape Cozy Mice & Candles: Watercolor Paint -Watercolor paper -Everyday pencil and eraser -Watercolor paint: blue, green, brown, yellow, red, orange -Paint brushes -Paint palette to mix paint on -Paper towels -Jar of water (to rinse brushes) OPTIONAL: color wheel, white acyrlic paint OR white gouache paint OR a white gel pen, colored pencils, washi tape Gnome Tree: Watercolor Paint -Watercolor paper -Everyday pencil and eraser -Watercolor paint: blue, green, brown, yellow, orange -Paint brushes -Paint palette to mix paint on -Paper towels -Jar of water (to rinse brushes) -Table salt (a few pinches) OPTIONAL: color wheel, white acyrlic paint OR white gouache paint OR a white gel pen, colored pencils, washi tape Crystal Dragon: Watercolor Paint -Watercolor paper -Everyday pencil and eraser -Watercolor paint: blue, or color of your choosing -Paint brushes -Paint palette to mix paint on -Paper towels -Jar of water (to rinse brushes) -Rubbing alcohol OPTIONAL: color wheel, white acyrlic paint OR white gouache paint OR a white gel pen, colored pencils, washi tape Cozy Book Kitty: Watercolor Paint -Watercolor paper -Everyday pencil and eraser -Watercolor paint: red, brown, yellow, orange -Paint brushes -Paint palette to mix paint on -Paper towels -Jar of water (to rinse brushes) OPTIONAL: color wheel, white acyrlic paint OR white gouache paint OR a white gel pen, colored pencils, washi tape Colorful Fish: Watercolor Paint -Watercolor paper -Everyday pencil and eraser -Watercolor paint: blue, orange, yellow, violet -Paint brushes -Paint palette to mix paint on -Paper towels -Jar of water (to rinse brushes) -Table salt (a few pinches) OPTIONAL: color wheel, white acyrlic paint OR white gouache paint OR a white gel pen, colored pencils, washi tape

學士學位 在 教育 從 Weber State University
After graduating with Bachelor's Degrees in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, I decided to make the leap of starting my author and illustrator career. Since then, I've published my first illustrated middle grade fantasy novel, Brush of Magic.
For several years, I have taught and created a variety of art classes, including realistic drawing, watercolor painting, and illustration. I love the time I get to spend with my students, creating art, and chatting about books—especially if the books and art are whimsical or magical!
Along with teaching art, writing books, and illustrating, I run my own art shop. All the artwork, books, and stationary designs in my shop are created by me.
I often find inspiration for my art and books through reading, spending time with my cats and dogs, and brainstorming imaginary creatures in my sketchbook.
