IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a continuously running class on a 12-week cycle. The classes are standalone, so learners can join at any point during the 12 weeks. Once the 12 weeks have concluded, the class will reset, beginning with the initial topic. If you previously unenrolled but did not complete all 12 weeks and wish to rejoin, please verify the topics and dates covered below to ensure that your learner does not repeat a class. Furthermore, upon successful completion of all 12 weeks of this course, learners will receive a certificate of completion. Feel free to contact me to notify me when your learner has completed the entire course. In this ongoing course, students will delve into the fascinating field of meteorology. Each week, students will explore a new aspect of weather-related topics. This course is perfect for weather enthusiasts who enjoy expanding their knowledge of weather. I will incorporate images and brief video clips into a slideshow to enhance engagement and aid in knowledge retention. Each class will be lecture-based, with active encouragement of discussion and student questions. No prior knowledge of this subject is necessary. Here are the topics that will be taught each week: *****Class that meets on WEDNESDAYS***** Feb. 19 - Weather on Other Planets Feb. 26 - Thunderstorms March 5 - Tornadoes March 12 - Hurricanes March 19 - Winter Weather March 26 - Weather Forecasting April 2 - Precipitation April 9 - Cloud Types April 16 - Gust Fronts and Derechos April 23 - El Niño, and La Nina April 30 - Thunder and Lightning ****Class that meets on MONDAYS**** Feb. 17 - Thunder and Lightning Feb. 24 - Weather Instruments March 3 - Weather on Other Planets March 10 - Thunderstorms March 17 - Tornadoes March 24 - Hurricanes March 31 - Winter Weather April 7 - Weather Forecasting April 14 - Precipitation April 21 - Cloud Types April 28 - Gust Fronts and Derechos ***Class that meets on TUESDAYS*** Feb. 18 - Cloud Types Feb. 25 - Gust Fronts and Derechos March 4 - El Niño and La Nina March 11 - Thunder and Lightning March 18 - Weather Instruments March 25 - Weather on Other Planets April 1 - Thunderstorms April 8 - Tornadoes April 15 - Hurricanes April 22 - Winter Weather April 29 - Weather Forecasting ***Class that meets on THURSDAYS*** Feb. 20 - Cloud Types Feb. 27 - Gust Fronts and Derechos March 6 - El Niño and La Nina March 13 - Thunder and Lightning March 20 - Weather Instruments March 27 - Weather on Other Planets April 3 - Thunderstorms April 10 - Tornadoes April 17 - Hurricanes April 24 - Winter Weather More topics/dates will be added at a later time.

Hi! My name is Cristina and I am an Astronomy and Meteorology teacher. I have been an educator for over a decade, having earned a Bachelor's degree in Christian Ministry with a minor in Psychology and Counseling. I am a certified severe storm spotter for both the National Weather Service and the Spotter Network, and am proud to be a NASA Social alumni. Additionally, I serve as a Solar System Ambassador for NASA/JPL, allowing me to share the latest astronomy events with my community.
In my role as a science communicator, I've had the honor of sharing space-related updates for numerous years, affording me the opportunity to distribute information about space across various social media platforms. Additionally, I was selected by Lockheed Martin as a space influencer for the OSIRIS-REx asteroid mission. These experiences have not only enriched my understanding of current space developments but also enabled me to impart this knowledge within my Outschool classes.
Science, particularly Meteorology and Astronomy, have always been a passion of mine and I strive to make learning about it enjoyable for students.
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy reading books, playing the piano, solving jigsaw puzzles, and baking cookies. I look forward to teaching your learner in the classroom!
