每週 1 小時. - Students are encouraged to continue nature journaling between camp sessions. They'll have time to share from their journal in class. (Please remember that students should not include personal information in their journal, like city names or streets.) - If they haven't completed their poems in class, students are asked to finish writing them on their own time. - Students are welcome and encouraged to write more poetry between camp sessions. :) - Students are encouraged to share a picture of their poem in the classroom so I can provide (kind and constructive!) comments. If they're not comfortable with uploading their poems in the classroom where other campers can see my comments, parents are welcome to message me with their children's poems.我們無法翻譯此文,請刷新頁面並再試一次。

Join us for a 5-Day Summer Camp that celebrates the beauty of nature with the art of poetry. In this summer writing camp, we will explore different forms of poetry, including haiku, blackout/erasure poetry, and found poetry. Students are encouraged to step outside in nature or observe their natural surroundings each day before, during, and after class, so they can write and sketch their observations in personal journals. These observations will serve as the foundation for their poems, allowing them to connect their experiences with key poetic elements such as imagery, simile, and alliteration. There is a 10-minute stretch break every camp session for campers to chat and get to know each other. On our last day of camp, students will create personal chapbooks to showcase their poetry writing. ☀️ Sample Day Schedule ☀️ 45 Minutes: - Nature journaling - Engaging readaloud sessions where students can hear classic and contemporary poetry, fostering a love for reading and performance. - Lesson 10 Minutes: - Stretch - “Campfire” Chat inspired by a prompt. (For example: what’s the funniest thing you saw an animal do?) 35 Minutes: - Guided exercises to explore each week's poetic form - Independent writing 🪶Enroll before June 1 for an early bird discount! I'm excited to adapt one of my most popular in-person creating writing classes into this online summer poetry camp! Thanks to my previous career in children's book and YA publishing, I have a strong grasp of what books can do for young minds, as well as what kinds of writing are in demand and in need.
