The art of video photojournalism focuses on telling stories. They include the art of interviewing people of interest and drawing a narrative from those interviews. Think of the who, what, where, when, why and how. Then once the interview is done we focus on the supplemental video. This is where we learn the art of videography and finding the story through visual imagery. Close ups, medium shots, long shorts, pans, zooms, tilts, etc. You will spend time honing your videography skills before you attempt to put it all together. Which includes the art of video editing. I will make recommendations for software you can use and we will spend time learning the ins and outs of that program so you can edit fun, interesting and compelling stories.

Intro to Digital Media
Introduction to the course objectives and expectations. File Types, Sizes and how to do basic file conversions. Types of videos and styles of videography. Equipment basics, care and handling. Get acclimated to your equipment. 課 2:
Fundamentals of Shooting Video
Camera settings, frame rate and resolution, white balance. Lenses. Consumer grade camcorders. Types of Shots and composition of video. Rules of Videography. Practical session, setting up a camera and recording video. Types of shots submission. 課 3:
Lighting and Sound
Three point lighting, natural vs artificial lighting, time of day to best shoot. Importance of quality audio, microphones, built in vs lavalier, shotgun. Practical, recording natural sound vs artificial sound on camera. Noisy environments, camera noise. 課 4:
Stages of Production
Preproduction, Production, Post Production and Distribution. Creating a story board or shot sheet. Finding a location to shoot video and gaining permission. Practical: Plan for a basic "tour" video. 其他詳情

Additional time available for one on one video conversations to create equity in your child's learning experience.

Students will need some flexibility with recording video and editing. Depending on the assignment or project the student chooses that may require supervision.

Basic computer literacy and access to a computer that can operate video editing software. Consumer grade camcorder and tripod. DSLR camera with video lens and tripod. Adobe Premiere Pro, iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Davinci Resolve. Adobe Rush

Video camera that can record at least 1080p video. This can be a consumer grade camcorder, a DSLR camera with a video lens or a cellphone with video capability. A tripod is recommended to enhance the experience. This may require a mount if you are using a cell phone. We can discuss exact equipment and options during our introduction meeting.
