每週 1-2 小時. Learners will be asked to complete some required activities outside of the class, and I will be provide suggestions for optional extensions of knowledge. These activities will be a range of reading tasks, DBQ's, forms, analysis questions, research opportunities, and watching short videos. A variety of resources will be shared, in an attempt to include learners who are interested in different things and who need/want the additional practice and/or challenge. No learner should feel overwhelmed!評估
Formative assessment/feedback will be included weekly. If a more structured grading metric is required (by the parent), I can include this as well. It's very important that parents communicate with me early on if they would like "grades" and how regularly. I tend to focus on learners providing self-evaluations of meeting learning goals, and regular opportunities to improve through formative assessment in face-to-face sessions.評分

This class will meet many state curriculum guidelines regarding the U.S. Government. My goal is to inspire my learners to be historic investigators and to interpret information from multiple sources and viewpoints. For each lesson, enrolled learners will receive a student guide (an optional note-taking guide) and an overview (with essential questions, key terms, and optional activities to strengthen prior knowledge or provide for challenge). I will provide multiple types of learning opportunities, including teacher led "fun" lectures, discussions, videos (and clips), games, slides, virtual field trips, Flippity, Nearpod, Quizlet, research opportunities, and interactive activities. Some of the course content will be taught in a "flipped classroom" approach, involving the learners doing some reading and/or research before our live class. I will also suggest optional activities for learners, to allow for hands-on and active learning experiences. Many of the optional activities will allow for differentiation and individualization, to meet the needs of learners and expectations of parents. Tentative Schedule: Week 1: Introductions & Class Expectations Week 2: Articles of Confederation & Constitutional Convention Week 3: Articles of Confederation & Constitutional Convention continued Week 4: Legislative Branch Week 5: Legislative Branch continued & review Week 6: Executive Branch Week 7: Judicial Branch Week 8: Lawmaking Process Week 9: Presidential Elections Week 10: Amendments Week 11: Amendments continued Week 12: Amendments continued Depending on the number of learners enrolled and their interests, the outline may be adjusted slightly. A positive class culture is a must, so I prefer learners to take turns when participating and to treat each other respectfully. I believe learning should be fun, and also provide challenge opportunities for those who need it. I love when learners participate, ask questions, and become involved in their learning process! I prefer learners to have cameras on, but I do not require it and I understand that some learners feel more comfortable with cameras off. Most importantly, I want all learners and parents to be 100% happy with the quality of this class. Any concerns, questions, or ideas for improvement should be communicated so that adjustments can be made accordingly. Outside of the scheduled face-to-face time, all other activities will be considered suggestions and be optional. Obviously, the more a learner engages with the course content, the more they will get out of the course. Communication between learners and parents, regarding the expectations for optional things, is important! *If interested in this class, but cannot find a section that meets your scheduling needs, please contact me directly to discuss options.
