In this one time social studies class, the students will learn all about different types of communities~rural, urban, and suburban. They will learn to identify each community by looking at houses, transportation, trees, bodies of water, streets, and people. The students will learn that people have to make decisions about where to live. The students will use their listening skills to create a folded paper project with crayons or colored pencils. ~Students will use listening skills to learn about three types of communities. ~Students will use creative skills to create a community project. ~Students will use writing skills to write words and sentences to go with the project. ~Students will use social skills to add to the discussion with other students and to share their work with others, if they feel comfortable.
The students will need a white piece of paper, a pencil and crayons or colored pencils.
