Affixes are additional elements placed at the beginning or end of a root to stem to modify its meaning. In this self-paced quick course, students will better understand affixes (prefixes and suffixes), ultimately giving them an advantage when encountering new vocabulary words. Learners will be introduced to each component and the meaning of prefixes and suffixes. The affixes will be shown in conjunction with root words so that students can evaluate all the combined elements as a new word. Students will also receive a list of affixes, complete an activity, and play a game to review the material. In this Self-Paced course, there is no live instruction. The material will be posted all at once and you can view it at your convenience. The class will include multiple interactive activities (in the Outschool classroom). As students complete and post their work, the teacher will supply feedback within 24-28 hours, so that the student receives timely feedback. It will take approximately 1-2 hours to complete each lesson.
學習目標
Learners will practice identifying prefixes, roots, and affixes.

Hello! My name is Ms. Ann and I have been a teacher for over a decade in the beautiful state of VA. I have taught several grades in both Elementary and Middle School. I love to teach. I think the best part of teaching is sharing my knowledge in a variety of subjects and helping students make connections to previous experiences or existing background knowledge.
I am a certified teacher in all core subjects: math, history, science, and language arts (grades K-8 and gifted education). I believe that successful teaching includes building relationships, interest, and engagement with students. When students are interested in the topic, they are more willing to participate, ask questions, and ultimately master the content.
I hope to see you in class soon!
