In this hands-on ongoing class I will walk learners through everything they need to get started sewing their own projects. Each week will start with a short general sewing lesson and then students are welcome to spend the rest of the time working on what ever they chose. I have been teaching sewing and quilting for over 20 years and have made a lot of experience with different types of sewing machines. I have been working with teens and tweens on Outschool for over a year, and my classes are known for their relaxed atmosphere where creativity is encouraged. I encourage my learners to focus on process more than product and learn through doing.
Sewing machine Good quality thread-gutermann A new pack of Schmetz Universal 12 needles for your sewing machine Hand sewing needles Fabric scissors maybe a paper and pencil to make notes if desired For beginners a half metre of fabric, or a couple of 'fat quarters' will be enough for our first few beginner projects For draw string bag, they will also need a yard of drawstring, or ribbon, or twill tape For the stuffy, you will need polyester stuffing, and buttons for the eyes First sewing project: Sleep Shorts- I suggest Kwik Sew 3602 and 1-1&1/2 yards of fabric
