In this ongoing class, learners will... -learn/review vocabulary strategies (such as: Latin/Greek root words, prefixes, suffixes, context clues, homophones, homographs, antonyms and synonyms, etc.) -learn/review reading comprehension skills (such as: cause and effect, character traits, compare and contrast, main idea, point of view, sequence, theme, fact and opinion, etc.). -learn/review reading comprehension strategies (such as: summarizing, predicting, drawing conclusions, inference, etc.).

Hello! Nice to meet you! I am Ilene. I love all subjects, but my passion is everything related to Language Arts. I am excited to teach all my students about the wonderful world of the written word. We are going to travel through the pages of a book to learn about the real world and the fantastic world of fictional stories. I have earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (K-6) from Florida International University and I am certified in Elementary Education and hold an Endorsement in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) (K-12). I have been an elementary school teacher for 15 years and have taught Reading, Writing, Language Arts, Math, Science, STEM, ESOL and even Spanish! Learning is a journey and everyone's path is different, but I believe that meaningful, fun, interactive lessons can empower students to be lifelong learners and readers.
