I have a Master’s degree in Education and 20 years of experience teaching and tutoring students in both middle and high school who struggle with any part of writing. I taught various subjects throughout my career, but most of my classroom time was spent teaching ELA. If your student needs help with grammar, punctuation, other writing mechanics, writing introductions, writing conclusions, formulating essays, and any other issue related to English Language Arts and writing, then I can help!  Over the years, I have developed a gift when it comes to teaching and tutoring. That gift is the ability to help struggling writers learn how to write multi-paragraph essays from all the different genres. I can help your student experience success in writing, even if they have never felt successful in writing before. Unfortunately, that is the case most of the time. I usually see students  who have never felt good about their writing and are highly frustrated. Luckily, I have an entire career's worth of knowledge and expertise to help them finally achieve some success when it comes to writing. I have tried and true methods to help students develop their writing ability and learn the proper grammar rules and appropriate writing mechanics. The first thing I do is assess your student to see where they are at with their writing ability and grammar knowledge. I believe in meeting students at the level they are currently functioning at in order to scaffold their learning appropriately. It is my belief that if you teach over a student’s head, there is no way to be successful because this will only serve to frustrate the student. Thus, I meet each student where they are at, and then together we set achievable goals for their progress. Once a student's level is properly assessed, scaffolding and other academic interventions can be taught and put in place to help them reach their goals and achieve some success! I have taken the most reluctant writers and turned them into successful and effective writers who can produce multi-paragraph essays! I utilize a modality of instructional interventions in combination with learning games and lots of positive reinforcement in order to help students experience success as writers. 

I am trained and experienced in teaching students ranging in age from 10 to 21. I have taught and tutored 6th graders all the way up to students in college. Therefore, it doesn’t matter what age or grade level your student is, I can offer support and guidance at any level in order for a student to learn to be a successful writer.
