每週 1-2 小時. After each session, we will send the assignments for the week to the parent's email via the Outschool Messaging system. This will usually include a few songs and exercises to practice, along with some specific notes on what to focus on. Learners will progress at different paces based on how often they practice. We typically recommend practicing 3-4 times a week, for 10 minutes a day for kids 8 and under, and 20 minutes a day for kids 9+. Older teens may be willing to invest even more time, but consistency is better than one long practice session once a week!

This class will go over the basics of playing ukulele, including talking about what a ukulele looks like, good posture, and navigating the fretboard and strings. There will also be a time to ask any questions about what repeated ukulele lessons with Ms. Ashley or Ms. Shelbbie would look like.

If you choose to sign up for repeated ukulele lessons, here are some details on our teaching method!

In these one-on-one classes, intended to be scheduled on a weekly or biweekly basis, Ms. Ashley or Ms. Shelbbie will teach you or your child how to play the ukulele. We will begin with the foundations of music theory and play songs of progressive difficulty, until you are an independent ukulele pro!

We believe learning should be fun, so lessons will consist of a mix of playing songs, music theory activities, and educational games. We adapt our curriculum to your learner's interests, and can cover a variety of genres of music. Maybe you can even compose your own piece!

Topics we cover include:
Rhythm
Note Recognition and Reading
Reading Tabs and Chords
Musical Expressions and Artistry
Form and Technique
Chord Theory and Progressions
Composing/Song-writing
Music History

These are private, individualized 1:1 ukulele lessons. Let’s have fun and learn together!

Ms. Shelbbie: Shelbie is a twin mom, musician and teacher. Her professional background includes two Bachelor degrees and over 10 years of performance and teaching experience. Her main degree is in music, with an emphasis on voice and vocal studies.

Shelbbie believes each student is different and aims to adjust her classes to meet that student's needs. In her classes, she strives to help students build confidence and skill with their choice of instrument. Shelbbie is very laidback and believes that students retain the most information while having fun. She is looking forward to having class with you!

Ms. Ashley: Ashley holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from The University of Connecticut and a CT Teaching Certification in grades Pre K-12 in all concentrations of music from Central Connecticut State University. While in college, she was an active member of the UConn Opera Outreach program, which aimed to bring the love of opera into the public school music classroom.

Ashley prides herself in having taught elementary choral/general music teacher in both rural and urban public school districts throughout the state of Connecticut. She began her private teaching career in 2011 teaching students of all ages. As a private music teacher, Ashley has guided her students to achieve lead roles in musicals such as "The Little Mermaid," "Shrek Jr.," and "High School Musical." Additionally, many of her students have earned prestigious accolades, including top marks at select regional festivals across Connecticut and numerous school solos.

Ashley has performed in churches, opera houses, and major venues including the Bushnell, Lincoln Center and the Candlelight Processional at Disney World.
