Students will learn basic map skills as they interact with the story "There's a Map on My Lap!". Miss Penny will read parts of the story and showcase skills such as identifying the compass rose, the map scale, and grid lines. Students will see pictures and then have a chance to respond and practice as the story is read aloud. Students might enjoy having a paper map handy on their own lap, but it is not required. A map activity will be introduced at the end of the story students can do on...
Students will be able to identify a compass rose, a scale, an grid lines on a map. Students will be introduced to the basic use of these map tools and will interact with the story as it is read aloud.
Any paper map to hold but it is not required.
