How well do you sleep? Did you know you can train yourself to sleep great every night? In this one-time class, we will delve into the rules for sleeping well each night. We will start with the science behind a good night's sleep and then what we can do to attain it each night. Class will begin with teaching about the circadian rhythm and class discussion will take place throughout our time as students discuss their own sleep habits and how to improve them. Questions and answers will be encouraged throughout our class time. After discussing the circadian rhythm, we will move onto talking about the four rules of getting great sleep and how each student can incorporate them into their lives. This class covers similar yet new material from more of my sleep classes. These classes do not have to be taken prior to this class; however, they will enhance the material learned about sleep hygiene. Please look at The Science of Dreams, The Science of Sleep, and The Science of Sleep Disorders to continue learning about the science of how and why we sleep. Please note, fewer numbers of students may result in a shortened class time. There will be no refunds issued for a student(s) missing class.

I am a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist and have been the Coordinator for a hospital-based sleep lab for the last 14 years. Prior to that, I taught middle and high school science classes for 10 years and have been on Outschool for the last 4 years. I get to combine those two subjects in my Outschool classes. I am very passionate about sleep! Many of the complaints that doctors see coming into their offices during the day, actually have their origins in the patient's sleep. By improving our educational exposure to diseases of our sleep, we will more easily recognize their symptoms and get them treated earlier, improving our life in the process. There are many detriments to bad sleep; hopefully your student will be able to take what they learn in the Science of Sleep series to improve their sleep, their health, and their life.
