This 8-week course offers a dynamic and engaging journey into the roots of human civilization. 

Designed for curious minds, it will transport students back in time to explore the most influential ancient civilizations, including the Sumerians, Akkadians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Egyptians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Indians, and Chinese.

Students will delve into the fascinating history of these cultures, discovering who they were, how they lived, and their monumental contributions to the development of human civilization. We will explore their innovations in governance, technology, and art, as well as their lasting legacies in religion, philosophy, and culture. 

By understanding these ancient societies, students will gain a broader perspective on how our modern world has been shaped by the past.

Through a combination of interactive discussions, multimedia resources, and hands-on projects, students will actively engage with the material, developing critical thinking skills and a deeper appreciation for history.

By the end of this course, students will:

1. Understand the Key Contributions of Ancient Civilizations: Learning about the major achievements of each civilization and their impact on the development of human societies.

2. Explore the Development of Religion and Philosophy: Examining the religious beliefs and philosophical ideas of ancient peoples and how they have influenced modern thought.

3. Analyze the Evolution of Governance and Society: Understanding how ancient civilizations structured their societies, created laws, and governed their people, and comparing these systems to those of today.

4. Develop Critical Thinking Skills: Engaging in discussions and projects that encourage analysis, debate, and reflection on historical events and their relevance to the modern world.


My teaching approach is engaging, interactive, and student-centered:

1. Interactive Discussions: Each class will begin with an introduction to the civilization of the week, followed by an in-depth discussion on their culture, innovations, and impact on human history. This approach encourages active participation, questions, and debates among students.

2. Multimedia Resources: I incorporate a variety of resources, including historical documentaries, educational videos, and visual aids, to bring ancient civilizations to life. I will also recommend relevant articles, podcasts, and books that students can explore outside of class to deepen their understanding.

3. Historical Case Studies and Simulations: We will occasionally engage in case studies and simulations that allow students to experience the challenges and achievements of ancient societies. This hands-on approach helps students connect with the material and apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios from history.

4. Project-Based Learning: At the end of each week, I will assign a creative project related to the civilization we studied. These projects will culminate in informal presentations, encouraging students to collaborate, share their findings, and develop a deeper understanding of the ancient world.
