Doesn't English seem a bit - well, weird? This class will delve into the origins of some of our most common, everyday words. We'll finally figure out the reasons for that strange <d> in <Wednesday> or the <r> in <February>, why in the world there is a silent <w> in <two> and why <hamburgers> are called that if they're not made of ham. It's a short and sweet class that will help shed some light on the oddities of English!
學習目標
By the end of this class, learners will understand that etymology and word origins play a big role in why words are spelled the way they are, and that inspiration for new words comes from many unexpected places.Learners will also begin to understand that there is a high degree of order and logic to English spellings and that every word is spelled the way it is for a reason.教學大綱
