聖派翠克節的歷史

Thinking of St. Patrick's Day brings up images of leprechauns, gold coins, rainbows and good luck. However, this holiday is based off of a real person and guess what...he was NOT Irish! In this class we will be learning about how some of these images (such as lucky clovers) came to be so popular and what their real origins are. Most of what we associate with St. Patrick's Day began hundreds of years ago. 

Some things we will discuss in class are:

Who was St. Patrick?
Why is the clover supposed to be lucky?
How did this holiday turn into a world wide celebration?
Why did green become such a popular color representing Ireland?
What do snakes have to do with this holiday?
What is true, what is legend and what is a mystery?

Learn all of this and more during our History of St. Patrick's Day class! 

*Please note that although this class is secular St. Patrick was a real person and this holiday does have connection to religion. We will be mentioning what St. Patrick did for the church and how he became a saint during class. If there are detailed questions on this the students will be directed to speak to adults in their home for more information.
