In this class, students will learn the value of true friendship through the beautiful Oscar Wilde fairy tale "The Devoted Friend." In this class, we will discuss what is true friendship and what is false friendship. We will discuss how subtle bullying is not true friendship and how we can guard against such manipulation. Each learner will write an individual, one to two-page essay after week one. Learners will need to have a good grasp of the characters in "The Devoted Friend" and an understanding of how they will persuade their readers as to what true friendship is and is not. Depending upon the student, it will take between two and three hours to organize and write the essay.提供的評估

Learners will be required to read or listen to an audiobook of "The Devoted Friend" by Oscar Wilde. This story is in public domain. They will need to bring a notebook and pencil or pen to class to take notes.
