課堂經歷
This class will help students discover how math and art combine to produce beautiful results called fractals which occur regularly in nature and in design. Over three lessons, students will use hands-on math activities and learn how to draw fun fractals. Drawing fractals can help learners discover and remember geometry concepts while also producing some fabulous artwork. Learners do not need to be artistically inclined nor mathematically skilled for this class since every step for connecting math and art will be covered in detail. If you can count while using a pencil and a ruler, then you can learn how to draw some amazing concepts in math!

超過 3 週課 1:
The Box Fractal
This lesson introduces the concept of fractals and shows two different ways fractals can be formed. Then we construct our first fun fractal, the Box Fractal!

課 2:
The H Fractal
This lesson uses drawing to explore another fun fractal, the H Fractal. This is a common fractal that occurs in nature and design and students will be encouraged to create their own unique H Fractal art piece!

課 3:
The Mickey Mouse Fractal
In this final lesson, students will use what they've learned about fractal construction to build a character-driven fractal called The Mickey Mouse Fractal which they can customize and even create a story for this fractal!

供應清單
Students should bring blank, unlined standard sized paper for drawing and any coloring supplies they would like to use (colored pencils, ink, markers), as well as a ruler that measures in either inches or centimeters (or both). The slideshow of each lesson is also provided so that learners can continue to review how to use math to draw fascinating fractals!

With degrees in Math, Music and Education, I have been teaching students for over thirty years.
I teach classes that offer learners a chance to experience the creative side of math by putting theory into practice to design things like dragons, anime characters, castles and more. My classes are activity-based and encourage students to learn through hands-on projects that mimic real life math-in-action done by architects, engineers and designers.
