Students have no assigned homework, but I often encourage them to create new builds between classes so they have something new to show off at the next meeting.我們無法翻譯此文,請刷新頁面並再試一次。
課堂經歷
When our children develop passions, we want to encourage them, even when (let's be honest) we sometimes get a little bit tired of hearing about the same game for hours on end. In Tell Me All About Minecraft, your kids will spend an hour telling me about their favorite mobs, mods, and builds. I will listen and ask questions designed to elicit more detailed descriptions and explanations of game mechanics. Discussion between students about these topics is highly encouraged! We will strive towards conversations that are respectful and involve active listening. Students are welcome to show & tell their builds and games via screen share or holding up a screen. Any version or edition of Minecraft is welcome! The focus of this class is developing conversation skills with peers and adults, as well as learning to describe things with clarity and specificity so that someone will less familiarity with a subject can learn something new. I will offer positive feedback about a topic that students feel strongly about and give them an opportunity to feel heard and see their opinions and knowledge are valued. •Students MAY come to class with a device able to play Minecraft. •Students MAY bring Minecraft toys such as Minecraft building block sets, figurines, costumes, etc. to show. •Students MAY show off builds and gameplay in creative or survival worlds (on any difficulty level), maps/worlds purchased in the Marketplace, mods, skins, redstone contraptions, and privately owned servers/Realms. •Students MAY show gameplay on a public server (such as The Hive) ONLY IF the chat feature is disabled [this is to ensure all content remains age appropriate]. •Students WILL be encouraged to engage in discussion with classmates and to share their own gameplay. •Students WILL NOT be required/forced to share their gameplay during class. •Students WILL NOT be playing on a shared server or Realm during this class; I do not provide a server or Realm for students to play together on. •Students SHOULD NOT share their usernames or encourage other students to share usernames or join their worlds, Realms, or servers without parental permission and involvement; parents may contact each other through the classroom to facilitate exchange of usernames and server information. •Students SHOULD NOT disparage other versions of Minecraft; most students have a version preference (Java vs Bedrock, Switch vs PC, etc.) may of course express that preference, but not through negative comments about other versions of the game. •Students SHOULD NOT share modded game content that includes guns/firearms or realistic blood/gore. This is too distressing for other learners. NOT AN OFFICIAL MINECRAFT PRODUCT. NOT APPROVED BY OR ASSOCIATED WITH MOJANG.
學習目標
Along with learning more about the mechanics of the game of Minecraft, we will periodically discuss online safety and etiquette relating playing the game in shared spaces (such as servers and realms).

PARENTS PLEASE NOTE: Ongoing classes are subscription based and renew weekly on Sunday for the following week. If you know your student will miss a class, you can end the subscription to the class through the classroom page, or you may choose to continue enrollment to hold the spot. I cannot issue refunds for missed meetings or hold spots for students who are not currently enrolled. I will work with you to transfer your learner to another section in the week that will work better for your schedule.
Students love to share their usernames, and due to the nature of screen/device sharing, they will often see the names on each other's screens. Please remind your students not to request each other's usernames or invite other students to their worlds, Realms, or servers without parental/guardian involvement. Adults are welcome to contact each other through the classroom to help their students connect outside of class. If your students sees other learners in the class playing in the same world, those learners likely either know each other outside of class or have connected through parental contact via the classroom.
From this point onward, I am only allowing students to share games played on public servers if they have the comments feature turned off. Public servers like Lifeboat and the Hive may contain discussion in the chat that includes inappropriate language, bullying, or requests for personal information. Please check with your learner about turning the chat feature off while on servers or help them choose servers without a public chat feature.
The amount of share time allotted to each student during class is based on how many student are in attendance (approx. 6 minutes per share in a full 8 student class, longer if fewer students attend that day). Please have your learner arrive promptly! Otherwise, I cannot guarantee they will have an opportunity to share during that meeting. Please note that I do not share recordings for non-academic classes.
供應清單
Learners should have a version of Minecraft if they want to share during class, as well as a way to show that gameplay. Learners playing on the same device they use for Outschool can shared directly from their device. Learners playing on another device should have a way to point the gaming device at their Outschool device's camera or point the camera at the gaming device.

I am an experienced teacher and geek parent who loves talking with students about their favorite games and fandoms. Over the last two years of this class, I have learned so much about versions/editions of Minecraft beyond those we play in our home, which allows me to provide tips, tricks, and support for multiple versions of the game. I have worked with many neurodiverse children as a teacher and parent, and create a positive and engaging environment for kids with diverse learning needs.
