Get ready to have fun with your friends and learn English! No prior exposure to English is required. In this 12 week semester class, learners will meet weekly in small groups to focus on the basics of the English language. Each 30 minute session will include greetings, how we are feeling, calendar time, weather in your neighborhood, and a new lesson for the week. We will have a new concept introduced each week, and previous material will be practiced more in depth by playing games and completing informal verbal and written assessments. There will be many opportunities for each learner to hear the target language as well as orally practice specific vocabulary and phrases several times throughout the class. Activities will build upon the previous meetings and learners will gain confidence with each passing week, as they are able to understand and speak more and more English! Powerpoint presentations, visual props, games, short videos, songs, and more will be used during each class meeting. Learners will also work on simple projects and handouts during some class meetings.

All learners must be supervised while using child safety scissors.

**Learners will need a small whiteboard and marker each week. **Handouts that may be needed will be available in the classroom and will need to be printed prior to the start of each meeting. **Other materials that will be needed periodically include coloring materials, glue, child safety scissors, and blank paper.
