課堂經歷

Is your learner looking to improve their miniature painting skills? Have they already taken some of my miniature painting classes? Maybe your learner already knows a little bit, and you would like them to get a few lessons so you have a hobby buddy at home. This is the class for them. Join me and other learners on painting miniatures for wargaming, tabletop rpgs, or for display.

We will meet twice a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes. This is an ongoing class (subscription) so learners can drop in or out at anytime.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ BEFORE ENROLLING: This class is designed for learners who already know the basics of miniature painting. If your learner has never painted miniatures before, I’d suggest they first take the tabletop miniature painting basics course, to have a strong foundation to work from. These classes assume that the learner already has the necessary tools: Things such as acrylic paint, brushes, and miniatures. As long as the learner has the beginning foundations and necessary equipment, they'll be ready to learn and prepped for the challenges in this ongoing class.

These classes are learner directed. Learners can direct the lessons to cater towards their needs for miniature painting. For example, if learners need help with color combinations, we can go over color theory, and color mixing, and ways to apply paint to the miniature.
If learners need help with contrasts, we can go over zenithal highlighting, glazing, shadows and highlights to make the miniature pop.
If learners want to improve their skills but are unsure about what they would like to do, there are rotating lessons to help stimulate their creativity, and help push them to improve their skills.

If learners have no requests, there are backup lessons to help challenge learners.

Week of July 8th: Iconic colors. A lesson on how color combinations can trigger a sense of nostalgia, and can be seen as gaudy. Such as Christmas colors. how to make them work on a miniature.

Week of July 8th:The Zorn palette. Limiting the palette to 4 colors to push students into expanding their ideas of color and color theory.
Week of July 15h:Grayscale palette. Limiting the palette to 2 colors, to reinforce contrast and focus on lights and shadow.
Week of July 22th:Painting Black. Black is an overwhelming color, creating highlights is quite difficult. we'll learn paint tricks to create the illusion of black.
Week of July 9th:Painting White. White is a simple color, however it can be very difficult to create shadows with it. We'll learn tips and tricks to improve the look of white on our miniatures.
Week of August 5th:Underpainting. A lesson on how a rainbow of colors as an initial base color can really have a miniature stand out.
Week of August 12th:Blanchitsu. A style of painting that emphasizes postmodern miniature painting. Making things look grim, dark, and desolate.

We'll work on miniatures together, and I'll be asking the learner questions about their ideas as they paint. I will offer advice, techniques, tips, and tricks to help guide the learner in their art direction. Learners are free to ask for constructive critiques and help.
學習目標
Techniques ranging from drybrushing, wetblending, zenithal highlighting, washes, oils, cross hatching, metallics, inks, color theory, color mixing, etc. There will be a lot of repetition to reinforce these skills.

供應清單
Learners should already have brushes and acrylic paints.

Oils are an optional paint for more advanced techniques. The learner has free reign to choose what colors they would like to use. It's recommended to get burnt umber, ivory black, and titanium white as a starting point if the learner wants to learn how to use oils.

Any other supplies are up to the learner. Things like static grass, grass tufts, pigments, are completely optional, and are to be used at the learners discretion to decorate their miniature work.

Hello! Hi! Greetings! Konnichiwa! Carne Asada. Wait. No.
Let's rewind. Hello, I'm a miniature painter, proponent of tabletop rpgs, and purveyor of social tabletop boardgames.

I have a bachelors of arts in... the arts. I have spent 5 years in Japan teaching high school students English, so I have a master understanding of secret sleeping techniques in the classroom. After my tenor at a high school, I spent an additional 2 years teaching in Japan, students as old as 5 years, and students as young as 65 years English.

I teach classes on being a dungeon master/game master(DM/GM) for tabletop rpgs. I believe that learning how to be a DM can help kids learn a plethora of life skills that they can carry with them into the real world, not just the table setting. Team work, out of the box thinking, fairplay, social etiquette, social contracts, and negotiations.

I have DMed for over 9 years, with players ranging from 17-50 years of age. With some players being pharmacists, software engineers, military reserve, teachers, artists, etc. They have one thing in common. They want to have fun. I will teach you the skills to let them have fun, and I will help you teach your players the fear, of a simple smile from you.
