In this math club, students will learn proven strategies and work through various types of math problems on the Pre-K-1st grade level. This ongoing class is fun, completely original, and superhero-themed. I am a certified elementary school teacher with eleven years of experience teaching math in grades 1-5. I love drawing and writing math word problems about superheroes, and I know students learn better when they are engaged in their learning. This club meets ONCE a week and will evolve with the student's levels. I have experience teaching students with degrees of disabilities and am very good at modifying lessons and actives. I will demonstrate how to solve each math problem step by step using my Wacom digital tablet and photoshop or SmartBoard. These professional tools allow me to write and edit right along with the students, giving a perfect example of problem-solving. Then I will model how to work through each step of the word problem using the I do, we do, you do strategy.

Hi! My name is Mr. Peden, and I make learning fun! In my experience, students learn best when they are engaged and invested in their education. Learning doesn't have to be bland. I design lessons around exciting stories and funny illustrations—engaging learners by teaching in a fun interactive way alongside characters and stories they enjoy.
Before teaching with Outschool, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Elementary Education. I taught as a classroom teacher for 9 years. During that time, I taught students with special needs and typical peers, ranging from K-5. I created and implemented over 140 Individual Education Plans during my tenure. Then, I obtained my Art and Physical Education K-12 certification and teaching students in grades 6-8 for a school year.
For the last 3 years, I have been teaching virtually for students of all ages and abilities, and I love it! I add to my lessons my artistic skills to develop individualized curriculums that excite and motivate students when I am not spending quality time with my family and friends. I enjoy drawing, writing, and practicing martial arts. I have self-published my own educational children's books.
