Welcome Super Mario friends! In this ongoing movement class, your child will adventure through Mushroom Kingdom with Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and more. With over 1100 kiddos having taken Superhero Workout with Miss Shannon, I have no doubt our Mario Workout Club will be equally engaging and fun! Find Luigi, battle Bowser, team up with Donkey Kong and of course- Exercise and Workout with Miss Shannon! Each week will feature new Super Mario Bros friends along with some of our favorites. Learners will join me as we set out on our weekly mission. No prior experience needed. No supplies needed! Come dressed in comfortable clothes or as your favorite Mario Bros friend! Your first warp pipe is only a jump away! Let’s get active, socialize, play games and save Mushroom Kingdom! Don’t forget to bring all your energy, power-ups, and a water bottle too! Each week of this upbeat fitness class will have new challenges, exercises, and a specific mission! Children will improve in the areas of strength, balance, and agility while learning REAL exercises from a Licensed Youth Exercise Specialist. You can expect to see socializing with friends and even jamming out to the Mario Movie soundtrack on occasion! Class will begin with an introduction and talking about our favorite Mario friends or setting the scene for that class. I can’t wait to hear all the things you know about Mario and his friends! Each week your learner will be encouraged to bring a special power-up superpower with them. This class is a place where your child's imagination and creativity are celebrated! Will you be able to use a Fire Flower, Super Leaf, or something completely new and unique to defeat Bowser? I will first guide students through the warm-up and stretching. Safety first! Next, I will model and perform a variety of exercises as we have fun, play games, and make our way through Mushroom Kingdom. Finally, class will finish with a final cool down stretch and more social time! Learners will have the opportunity to help me count out our exercise repetitions, be immersed in the storyline, and share all their Mario knowledge. You can expect your child to receive lots of encouragement and praise throughout our workout. They will leave feeling excited about fitness, and with new exercises they can practice at home! Active fun for the whole family! *Join at any time! Stay enrolled as long as your little is enjoying it!* Class will be learner led and students will share their input on favorite characters, obstacles, challenges, and games as we adventure through this ongoing class! Each workout is sure to be fun and fresh as we get to know one another and the activities your Super Mario fans enjoy most! I have a feeling entering Bowser's castle will be one of them! Workouts will include: Mario and Luigi Enter the Warp Zone - Characters we love! Princess Peach, Help! - Mario and Toad seek out help from Princess Peach Super Mushrooms Obstacle Course - Complete Princess Peach's training Donkey Kong Battle- Dual at the Great Ring of Kong! Where’s Luigi? - Warp into the Dark Lands and help Luigi escape the Shy Guys Rainbow Road- Mario Kart Racing! Lava, Lava!- Help save Princess Peach from marrying Bowser! Bowser and the Super Star- Defeat Bowser and save Mushroom Kingdom once and for all! Classes incorporate key childhood development elements such as leadership, respect, teamwork, confidence, self-esteem, creativity, coordination, balance, strength and social skills. Students will learn REAL stretches and exercises disguised as Super Mario movements. Practicing and perfecting these exercises over time will improve your child’s flexibility, balance, agility, and increase strength!
Ongoing group classes are great practice for developing social skills and building friendships with familiar faces. I never mute learners (except in cases of distracting background noise, etc).
They will also be working towards achieving the daily physical activity recommendations of both the CDC and American Heart Association. According to the CDC, it is recommended that "children (3-5 years) should be physically active throughout the day for growth and development. Children and adolescents ages (6-17 years) should do 60 minutes or more of moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity each day, including daily aerobic – and activities that strengthen bones (like running or jumping) – 3 days each week, and that build muscles (like climbing or doing push-ups) – 3 days each week."
According to the American Heart Association:
Active kids are more likely to have:
-a healthy weight
-stronger, healthier bones and muscles
-better heart and brain health
-improved brain function, including memory, attention and problem-solving
-better school attendance and academic performance, especially in math, reading and writing
-lower long-term risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and some kinds of cancer
-less stress and fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression
-less inappropriate and distracting classroom behavior
-improved mental health and psychological well-being, including confidence and self-esteem

Parental guidance is suggested just to make sure your child is staying hydrated and resting when needed. But don't worry! We will take plenty of group water and breathing breaks! We will use these rest times to get to know one another and play interactive games.
