In this 8-week course, students will review key topics from pre-algebra, as well as be introduced to topics from Algebra 1. Our goal is to build a strong bridge from last year's coursework to next year's coursework! Key topics will include: solving equations, equations of lines, systems of equations, and functions. Use of fractions and decimals will be reviewed throughout. Each class will feature an interactive and engaging lesson in which students will receive instruction in the week's topic, complete guided practice problems, and make connections between their prior knowledge. Games and discussions will be incorporated, as applicable. Approximately one hour of homework will be assigned at the conclusion of the class. Homework is optional and is at the discretion of the parent if they wish their student to complete and submit it. Feedback will be provided for submitted homework. There is also an end-of-course assessment that will be made available after the week 8 class. If the parent wishes to have their student complete it, they will need to administer it and submit it within 10 days of the last day of class. It will be graded and returned.

Enrolled learners should have recently completed a pre-algebra course, 8th grade math course, or advanced 7th grade math course. They should intend to take an Algebra 1, Math 1, or equivalent in the fall.
