Anime favorites from Studio Ghibli - Polymer Clay Art Sculpting of Totoro, Soot Sprites, No-Face, Calcifer, Jiji....Charms, Figurines, Earrings. In this class, we will work together to learn the steps needed to create each portion of our adorable miniature Figurines and Charms. Different camera views will be used to show each step of the way. We will condition, cut, roll and form our pieces. Then we will assemble our body parts and get them prepared to be baked after class is over. I will go over how to convert our creatures into jewelry, which is an optional step the students can do. The supplies are listed below and are necessary to complete the project. I will go over how to lacquer the clay after baking if the students want a professional, glossy finished look. Supplies: Polymer Bake Clay in a variety of colors (white, black, grey, orange, green, purple, red) Basic Sculpting tools, cutting tool, dotting tool (for eye sockets) A non stick surface to work on A small rolling pin or paintbrush handle or anything smooth to roll out small pieces of clay. You may use Black Glass seed beads for eyes, otherwise black clay Eye pins (to turn into charms before baking) About 1" of metal wire or 1/2 toothpick for leaf umbrella (optional) Tiny star shaped cookie cutter (optional) Clear water-based Polyurethane or glaze for after baking (optional)

**Polymer clay requires baking according to the package direction. (Generally ~275 °F, depending on your brand of clay). You may do this after class. Parental help is necessary.

*Lori King (Ms. Lori - She/Her) is a graduate of F.I.T in NYC. She worked in different areas of the design industry since 1991, from illustration, pattern making, garment construction to designing full story boards for buyers. She tutors Fashion Illustration to help other students complete their professional portfolios before their interviews. Lori is also a Polymer Clay artist, Graphic Designer and Illustrator.

*M Hopkins (Teacher M - They/Them) is a professional, published artist who creates comics and illustrations with a love for color theory.

*Appiffany Joiner-McNeil (Mrs. Appiffany or Mrs. AJ - She/Her) Graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Biology, Cum Laude. She holds a Masters of Arts in Psychology and a Masters of Arts in Teaching.
She brings STEM and psychology to the platform, with science projects, labs, and experiments.
As a member of the Society for Science, she will further extend students' curiosity into the STEM field without the restrictions of specific curriculums.
