Students will come away from this class with an understanding of how stories shape and are shaped by people and cultures and gain a genuine excitement for storytelling.

I have taught social studies and history as a tutor, substitute teacher, and homeschool teacher, and therefore have experience in covering sensitive topics that involve war/violence in a manner appropriate for children. As a part of my studies for my major in ancient and medieval history, I focused on the history of the British Isles, including Scotland. My senior thesis paper was on Scottish and Irish history and identity. I have studied Scottish mythology and storytelling and their link to Scottish culture. I have also travelled throughout Scotland (twice!) and look forward to sharing the lasting effects of these stories in Scottish identity.
