每週 1-2 小時. Each week there will be projects that can be finished and/or expanded in between live classes. This allows for self-exploration and enrichment to the degree desired. The results of the projects will be presented in the following week.我們無法翻譯此文,請刷新頁面並再試一次。
課堂經歷
This is a TRUE hands-on robotics class that covers the three essential aspects of a true robot: Perception Autonomous decision Action in the real world Introducing an incredibly unique learning experience! In this class, the participants actually gain a deep understanding of the concepts of robotics through their own hands-on success through a carefully designed and personally written curriculum. We will walk through the basics of robotics by building an actual autonomous robot! A perfect introduction into the world of robotics for beginners, no experience necessary. The robot kit is based on the popular micro-controller "MicroBit". This is a powerful yet easy to use and well supported controller. It can be programmed with both graphical and textual languages. (We will use graphical language in this class) This allows the student to build effective robotics projects without requiring the details of complex coding languages, while supporting those who may already know textual languages. Programming will be through a web browser, so no software to install, no accounts to create. Features of the Robot: Ultrasonic sensor, infrared sensor, motors, buzzer, music, led display, servos, accelerometer, magnetometer, avoidance sensor, infrared tracking, Bluetooth remote control, neopixel, micro-usb connection, rubber wheels, light sensor, compass. There is even expansion for servos and serial devices. Please see the materials list below for ordering the supplies required for class. Intended for beginners! The only pre-requirement is the ability to follow instructions and properly handle small parts, wires, etc. and know basic computer literacy (copy, paste, file manager, etc). A webcam is required for participation to receive live hands on help. Each class will be filled with lecture, examples, guidance, and then a project is assigned for the week. The projects are completed between class time and then presented the following week in class. Class Schedule: Week 1: Micro-controller Connect the micro-controller to the host and perform basic programming Week 2: Build the Robot Build the robot body and sensors Week 3: Come Alive, Test and Dance! In this class we will utilize motors, lights, and sound to choreograph a robot dance routine! Be sure to give the robot a name! Week 4 : Obstacle Sensors This class will focus on the use of distance and avoidance sensors , allowing the robot to explore around the house autonomously Week 5: Remote Control This class we will learn to program the remote to send commands to the robot and control what it does. Week 6: Robot Races Intro! Program the robot to race around the supplied racetrack, fastest robot to complete 10 laps without “falling off Wins!” Week 7: Robot Races Finals Final tweaking of the robot races and announcement of the winner! Week 8: Neopixel Light Shows Learn “indirect” programming and create colorful light shows Week 9: Following Objects Phase 1 Program the robot to follow objects using the ultrasonic sensor Week 10: Following Objects Phase 2 Add the ability to match speed while following objects as in week 9 This is definitely a fun hands-on class intended for those with an interest in computers and robotics with a capability to perform basic steps required. Younger children or less experienced are welcome with parental supervision to avoid delaying the class progress unnecessarily.
學習目標
Learn the basic of robotics through understanding of the hardware to software marriage that is robotics. Covered topics are:
Sensors and how they work
Block Programming
Robot Logistics
Intelligent vs unintelligent design
Programming for the real world situations
Tuning hardware through software
Direct vs Indirect programming
We will learn the three pillars of robotics:
1. Perceive the environment
2. Decide what to do based on that perception
3. Act on that decision in the real world

Each student will need a computer with a normal full sized USB port available to use. MATERIALS REQUIRED are the specific Yahboom brand robot body kit and Microbit microcontroller. It is a requirement for everyone in class to use the exact same robot body and controller for consistency. The cost is about $100, and this same robot kit is good for all of my robotic classes. For convenience and sure in time shipping, we have partnered with an educational supply company to provide the proper materials for class with only one purchase. We highly recommend using this link to purchase all supplies for the class on one kit with fast shipping. This is the link to the complete class package including robot and micro-controller: https://davidsalch.perfectpackageonline.com/

I have been involved in computer science and robotics for 5 decades, having hand built my first robot as a teenager back in the day where parts had to be manually hard wired from scratch. In my career I have touched on many hardware / software disciplines and have several patents to my name in this field. This gives me a unique view on hardware and software as two parts of a whole end product.
In addition to the technical skills I have spent decades explaining difficult computer science concepts to non-technical crowds including investors, administrators, salesmen, etc. This provided a solid basis for teaching these skills in an age appropriate manner.
My computer science classes bring these two (technical abilities and teaching experience) together into a fun, exciting hands on experience that is age appropriate.
I have worked with this particular Yahboom robot for about 5 years now, and successfully taught basic robotics and some fairly advanced concepts) with this robot to thousands of students.
