I have been a teacher for over 25 years, both in the United States and abroad, in public and private schools. I have been with Outschool for over 3 years. I have always enjoyed science and I have always been crafty. I come from a long line of engineers, so I love combining these two interests and sharing them with my students.
Students will get a PDF to print each week during class. They will need a pencil with an eraser to complete our design ideas. After class, when creating their design, students will determine the materials they need. Possible materials needed may be: glue, tape, string, scissors, cardboard, paper, plastic wrap, wax paper, craft sticks, paper towel rolls, straws, a ruler, small toys, a flashlight, newspapers, a plastic tub, clay, sand, water, twigs or sticks, rocks, leaves, grass, feathers, a stopwatch, index cards, tissue paper, beans, beads, cotton balls, seeds, rice, plastic cups, plastic eggs, aluminum foil, pipe cleaners, flour, fishing wire, yarn, a pool noodle, paper cups, funnel, paper clips, washers, table tennis ball, marshmallows, toothpicks, uncooked spaghetti, gumdrops, pennies, marbles, foam pipe insulation, sandpaper, bubble wrap, plastic bags, felt, unsharpened pencils, spools, wagon wheel pasta, penne pasta, lifesaver candy, plastic water bottle, milk carton, tissue box, egg carton, paper plate, food that local birds will eat, mesh netting, rubber bands, netting, old T-shirt, paper bag, or a stuffed animal.
