Day One: This will be an experimental class where students use their creativity and reasoning skills to put their engineering skills into practice. Students will create a freestanding building and a bridge made out of uncooked spaghetti and marshmallows. The class will begin with basic specifications, goals and objectives. Students through trial and error will allow their potential to unfold. Students scientific reasoning will be amazing, mindset will shift, problems will be solved, and thinking will be dynamic. Students will receive feedback and encouragement during the class. Day Two: This issue relates to real world issues in the environment. Students mix oil and water then see the results as they use various materials to try to remove the oil as well as observing the impact on other items in nature. This will be an experimental class where students use their creativity and reasoning skills to put their problem solving skills into practice. Students will create an oil spill, observe the impact on objects in the impacted area, and then try various clean up efforts. The class will begin with a discussion, instructions, basic specifications, goals and objectives. Students through trial and error will allow their potential to unfold. Students scientific reasoning will be amazing, mindset will shift, problems will be solved, and thinking will be dynamic. Students will receive feedback and encouragement during the class. Slides and an accompanying activity worksheet will accompany the class for notes and skills reinforcement. More fun with an experimental class where students use their creativity and counting, patterning, color identification, and reasoning skills into practice. Students through trial and error will allow their potential to unfold. Students scientific reasoning will be amazing, mindset will shift, problems will be solved, and both discussion and thinking will be dynamic. Students will receive feedback and encouragement during the class. Great, age-appropriate project offering numerous learning opportunities. Day Three: We will discuss gravity and the process of capillary action. We will have a hands on experiment: demonstrating the combined force of attraction among water molecules and with the molecules of surrounding materials. Information will be presented through discussion and slides. Students will have an observation sheet to complete during the class including predictions and an illustration of the experiment. Experiment Two: This will be an experimental class where students use their creativity and experience how chemistry causes the properties of an item to react when added to another. Students will observe reactions as the properties of the dish soap react with the fat in the milk. Students will make predictions, be amazed, their mindset will shift, and both discussion and thinking will be dynamic. Students will receive feedback and encouragement during the class. Great, age-appropriate project offering numerous learning opportunities. *Slides will be shared during the lesson introducing topics applied in the lesson. Day Four: We will discuss the three states of matter: solid, liquid, gas as well as what matter, mass and volume are. Additional discussion of melting, freezing, evaporation and condensation. We will have a hands on experiment: self inflating balloon. Information will be presented through discussion and slides. Students will have an observation sheet to complete during the class including predictions and an illustration of the experiment. Project Two: This will be an experimental class where students use their creativity and reasoning skills to put their engineering skills into practice. Students will create a cloud in a jar following discussion on the water cycle. The class will begin with basic specifications, goals and objectives. Students follow instructions allowing their potential to unfold. Students scientific reasoning will be amazing, mindset will shift, problems will be solved, and thinking will be dynamic. Students will receive feedback and encouragement during the class. Slides and an accompanying activity worksheet will accompany the class for notes and skills reinforcement Day Five: Wrap up any discussion. This STEM activity has a specific purpose as students use the binary alphabet code to make hearts out of colors and patterns. Great introduction into coding as well as making a gift, or Valentine's fun. The students use their creativity and put their reasoning skills to practice. Students through trial and error will allow their potential to unfold. Students scientific reasoning will be amazing, mindset will shift, problems will be solved, and thinking will be dynamic. 學習目標
Students will discuss and experiment. Learn problem solving, STEM, reasoning skills, engineering skills, creativity, setting goals meeting objectives, and construction. A great hands on activity to observe and try to correct impacts of an oil spill in waterways. Students will engage in discussion and record their observations and ideas for corrective measures. STEM projects help reinforce important life skills and help to potentially spark a lifetime interests in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math. Students will develop and reinforce counting, patterning, color identification, and reasoning skills. Encouraging the use of patterns, art, and STEM! The project also incorporates fine motor skills and discussion. Students will learn about gravity and the process of capillary action. Students observe reactions as the properties of various items mix. Students will develop theories, test their predictions, and discuss their findings as well as use an observation sheet to record and draw parts of the experiment. Students review the water cycle in the environment and discuss states of matter. STEM projects help reinforce important life skills and help to potentially spark a lifetime interests in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math. Next we discuss the three states of matter as well as vocabulary: matter, mass, volume, melting, freezing, evaporation and condensation.
