Play co-op or solo and chat with other Stardew Valley enthusiasts in the original Outschool weekly ongoing Stardew Valley club! Special thanks to Stardew Valley game developer Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) for granting his personal permission for this class to happen! (PC, Switch, Xbox, Mobile all welcome!) This class provides students an opportunity to: * Play the game * Update classmates on personal progress * Share tips, tricks, secrets, and questions * Dish dirt on the NPCs and game lore * Discuss game aspects (farming, foraging, food production, mining, combat, decorating, fashion, and relationships) * Make friends with other Stardew Valley enthusiasts Learners can play the game on PC, Switch, Xbox and mobile; but any co-op play in class is limited by availability (only four can play on one farm) and platform, as the function does not work cross-platform (i.e. those on Switch cannot play with those on PC). ** Please note that this class may contain spoilers as learners will be in different stages of game play. **

This course allows for student-led discussion and interaction with classmates who share an interest in Stardew Valley. Students will discuss economics, return on investment, food production methods, logical progressions, seasonal crops and growing times, prioritization, risk-reward, and time management.

Stardew Valley is a farming simulation game that was rated by Common Sense Media as 9+. Parents should be advised that there is some alcohol content, and players can brew alcohol as a farm product. One character to interact with appears to be alcoholic (but he gets better through your friendship). Players can marry any one of several characters, regardless of gender. There are a few saucy lines in the relationship dialog. There is some monster killing in dark caves, which younger players may find scary. Learners will need to share a unique, one-time game code for co-op play. Please talk to your learner about cyber security and what should or should not be shared during class. This class may use breakout rooms to allow learners to co-op play with others or chat about certain games in smaller groups. The teacher will alternate among rooms to moderate and keep on track.

I am a Stardew Valley enthusiast, myself. I play on PC, and with over 2100 in-game hours I have personally finished 100 percent of the game - three times! Stardew Valley stands head and shoulders above most of the games I've played, and has many valuable educational aspects to teach players while still being a ton of fun to play.
