課堂經歷
A version of the popular summer camp, spread out over 5 weeks, culminating in a "performance" at the end of the last class. Throughout the weeks students would learn audition scenes, audition, rehearse, create props and costumes and perform a play for friends and family at the end of the program. Day 1 + Introductions + Talent inventory (find out what each student can do and what they feel they are good at) + Stretching and warming up + Play a theatre game. + Read through the “audition scenes” – learn what each scene is about, what the characters and emotions are in the scene. + Learn how to pick the right audition scene for their abilities and comfort level. Learn how to practice and prepare for the audition including a personal introduction. + Learn about the audition process, what is expected of them, behavior during the audition. Day 2 + Stretching and warming up + Play a theatre game + Review the audition process and expectations + Each student will then audition with the scene they chose from Day 1 and practiced. While auditions can be stressful, we strive to keep the audition process light, supportive and comfortable. + Learn about the process that directors use to cast a production based on auditions A cast list will be distributed. With these productions we pick plays that have fairly equal-sized parts so that each student gets to participate equally. Day 3 + Stretching and warming up + Play a theatre game + Introductions of each person’s character based on the cast list. + Read through of the play, discussion general intentions and emotions of the characters throughout. + Learn about character creation and what it takes to make the character on the page come alive. + Learn about rehearsal techniques to help with memorization and line delivery. + Discuss what props might be useful to have for the scenes and how these props can enhance their performance. Props can typically be found around their house or in some instances, made from readily available crafting supplies. Day 4 + Stretch, warmup, theatre game + Perform the play. By this point the performers are encouraged to talk about what they can do to improve their own performance, learn to identify how their participation in the performance makes a difference. + Discuss costumes to be worn for the final performance and how these costumes can enhance the performance and their characters. Day 5 + Stretch, warmup, theatre game + Run through the performance. Performers are encouraged to further identify how they personally can make their performance stronger, and the importance of their participation.
學習目標
Theatre games are used to loosen up the young performers and get them comfortable with the instructors, with each other, and with moving about the "room".
Through the audition process, feedback will be given privately to each student regarding their audition.
The Scenes teach teamwork, body movement and empathy.
The Rehearsals will teach skills such as work ethic, creating a rehearsal plan.
Throughout the workshop students also learn rehearsal and performance etiquette, acting/singing/dance and theatre terminology.
