This is a one-time lesson which gives a taste of the ‘Morphemic approach’ to learning to spell. I will introduce the approach, and go through some examples of how it can help, in a very logical way, to learn to spell.

I will explain how the ‘Morphemic approach’ differs from the traditional spelling approaches such as sounding out words or splitting words into syllables. Your learner will see that morphemes have meaning, and that adding further morphemes to an existing morpheme (a ‘base word’) can change its meaning.

I will introduce your learner to a few morphemes, and they will be able to practice the application of these morphemes.
