Whether you are interested in being a spelling bee champion or you just want to be less reliant on spell-checkers, this class can help you! Students will learn to improve their spelling with a variety of strategies. We will learn to group words into spelling-families, study word origin and definitions and use mnemonic tools to increase correct spelling memory. Students will practice and improve their spelling of commonly used and less commonly used 3rd and 4th grade level words.
I'm a former Spelling Bee champ :) with extensive study in etymology. Additionally, my experience teaching in special education classrooms gives me a great deal of experience in making academic subjects fun and accessible in a variety of ways to all learners.
Each class will have a print-out worksheet. Please access and print the worksheet from the class portal before class begins to participate in the class games and word study.
