Each week the class will have a new topic to research and come prepared to debate. The topics will be current events within the U.S. and around the world. As well as researching these important events, learners will spend each week practicing the avoidance of logical fallacies, the response should they be confronted with logical fallacies, the art of sculpting important questions for their opponents in order to elicit the answers they need, the presentation of materials including enunciation, speed and intonation, and the ability to remain respectful and to debate hot topics with integrity.

Learners will gain practice in argumentation and presentation, in the use of language and words to craft important ideas and the practice of reading and researching the important events of the world helping them to be informed world citizens who can discuss and debate with confidence and kindness.其他詳情

While events around the world will be fair game, some of the most personal and private topics (such as the topics of abortion or religion) will be avoided. If a current event chosen is of a personal nature to a participant and they would prefer to not debate it, I am happy to change the topic if necessary.

I am a world citizen. I teach debate and I am a human rights lawyer who spent many years in United Nations Courtrooms arguing out global events.
