課堂經歷
This course will teach teens how to read social cues, greet, initiate/maintain conversations, identify expected/unexpected behaviors, make friends, and more. Students and teacher will be able to interact via discussion posts on the classroom page. Extensive research on the effects of social skills instruction on teens with these challenges shows that social skills instructional programs are effective in reducing experiences of school failure or rejection as well as the aggressiveness and isolation that often develop because of problems relating to others. Four posts with question prompts are included, along with resources such as videos and PDFs. The curriculum is as follows: 1. Greetings, initiating a conversation, and maintaining a conversation 2. Verbal/nonverbal social cues (e.g., facial expressions, body language) 3. Expected versus unexpected behaviors, using our social filter 4. Conflict resolution, identifying qualities in a good friend

Starting and Maintaining Conversations
This lesson is about how we can start conversations and keep them going. Concepts such as small talk, compliments, finding things in common, and using open-ended questions will be discussed. 課 2:
Nonverbal Communication
This lesson is about various forms of communication. Concepts such as facial expressions, body language, gestures, and paralinguistics will be discussed. 課 3:
Expected/Unexpected Behaviors & Social Filter
This lesson is about expected and unexpected behaviors in social situations, as well as using a social filter (thinking before speaking/acting). 課 4:
Conflict Resolution & Friendship
