社交技巧訓練營：情緒智商、同理心與自我管理 Gr 1-2

Our mission is to give learners the tools they need to become Global Citizens of the 21st Century. 

In this intensive 5-day course, your child will learn the skills to understand and relate positively to their peers. They will learn about identifying emotions, helping others, and changing attitudes.

On completion of the course, learners will receive a completion certificate 📜 and a digital badge! 🎖️

Here is the lesson order and descriptions: 

Monday - People and Feelings
Learners will gain an understanding of how to read body language and facial expressions by looking at pictures of people. They will examine the effects of their emotions on interpersonal relationships and learn about the importance of making connections and supporting others. For their main task, they will make a template for their own feelings journal (this will be for learners’ own edification and they will not be asked to share their work with the class).

Tuesday - Emotional Intelligence
Learners will gain knowledge on how to recognize basic emotions in others by looking at different pictures of people. They will be presented with hypothetical situations and practice differentiating what is emotionally intelligent behavior and what is not. For their main task, they will design a card for a friend or family member to show that they understand them.

Wednesday - Helping Hearts
Learners will explore ways they can help others at home, at school, and in their community. They will discuss the importance of helping others and the benefits it can bring to their communities and the rest of the world. For their main task, they will be assigned a scenario and asked to deliver a presentation about how they could help. 

Thursday - Paper Cranes
Learners will read about the historical and cultural significance of paper cranes in Japan. They will discuss the importance of peace and love and ways they can best spread this message around the world. For their main task, they will learn how to make their own paper cranes and share them with their classmates. 

Friday - Being Positive
Learners will read a short case study of someone with a negative outlook on life. They will discuss ways this person can change their mindset and help themselves relate to their surroundings more positively. They will explore the short- and long-term health and wellbeing benefits of maintaining a positive mindset, not only for themselves but also for others. For their main task, they will practice transforming negative statements into positive ones. 


Each of our lessons is separated into distinct sections. After being welcomed to the class, learners will be introduced to the topic through a game or warm up activity (5-10 minutes). They will then have their existing knowledge on the topic tested with various inquiry-based questioning techniques. After, our facilitators will present them with pertinent information on the topic and the main class task (10-15 minutes). The facilitator will then present the main task, which will predominantly be student-led. During this time, students will be creating, innovating, or solving a problem while the facilitator guides them (20-25 minutes). Learners will then have the opportunity to present their class work. They will give and receive feedback from each other as well as from the facilitator (10 minutes). Before finishing the class, learners will complete a short Exit Ticket to solidify their takeaways from the class experience (5 minutes).

The facilitator will share all of our content built on Canvas LMS. We use this for display purposes only and learners are not required to create an account. To make our content engaging, we diversify our delivery methods as much as possible. Our content includes static slides with text and images built on Microsoft Powerpoint, educational videos from YouTube, online games built on platforms such as Wordwall and Baamboozle, and interactive builds developed on Articulate Storyline. Our content is well-researched and referenced in every lesson, as it is all strictly factual, objective, and secular. We only use images and YouTube videos that fall under the Creative Commons license. Each of our lessons is also matched with a selection of Common Core and CPalms standards and is inspired by a variety of UNESCO key topics.
